DSORe POLL s422
Should the DNR allow hunters who prequalified for an Earn-A-Buck (EAB) sticker in 2008 carry their stickers over to the 2010 season if EAB should return to some units that year?
(thanks to Wisconsin Outdoor News)In recent years, many Wisconsin deer management units (DMUs) had Earn-A-Buck rules, which required a hunter to take an antlerless deer (a doe or a fawn of either sex) before taking a buck. Hunters who registered an antlerless deer received an EAB sticker, which allowed them to take a buck during the season in which they qualified or the following season. As a result of widespread hunter dissatisfaction with the rule, the Natural Resources Board suspended EAB for 2009 in all DMUs except for those where chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been found. Many hunters who registered antlerless deer in 2008 and were awarded EAB stickers did not shoot a buck last season. As of now, those EAB stickers are valid only for 2009 and only in CWD DMUs.

I think the d.n.r. should honner the e.a.b. sticker holders for 2009. it’s not the hunters’ fault the d.n.r. changed the rules again. e.a.b. should be dead in 2010. what does the d.n.r. want to do, get rid of the deer in the c.w.d. zones, or just mess with the hunters.
Yes the DNR should allow the (EBA) sticker to be used in 2009. There’s just to much interference and regulation from the DNR. One day they may regret some of the decisions they have made, because hunters are getting fed up and many are not hunting anymore.
The DNR should know the herd numbers. If they want to reduce the herd, they should honor the EAB stickers.
