I caught a 50″ in Sep 2003 and released the fish. The first legal Musky I ever caught. The fiberglass mount I had made ,still looks great
No, because If it got caught it could be a world record. I feel that a world record fish should be naturally grown and raise.
sorry for the last comment I thought the question ment a tank raised fish released in to the water. Let it go for breading stock.
There’s been so much controversy surrounding the muskie world record, it needs to be re-established. If I knew it was 69+, it would go home.

Absolutely, without a doubt. I once caught a northern pike that I estimate was between 25 and 30 lbs and killing it never crossed my mind. The fish was so beautiful in the water and in the photo and I knew if I killed it, it would immediately lose its color and be reduced to a dead fish in a bucket. Get a measurement, get a good picture and let it go. Kill smaller fish for a fish fry and preserve the resource. Allow a beautiful creature that has defied the odds to survive to reproduce again.
