Should Wisconsin DNR attempt to manage cougars in the state?
Why or why not?
Cougars in Wisconsin. Cougars (mountain lions) were once native to Wisconsin, but they were extirpated in the late 19th Century. Last month, a group of hunters and DNR staff members treed and photographed a male cougar in Sawyer County. Attempts to capture and put a radio collar on the cat failed. Cougars are protected in Wisconsin. After that animal was seen and photographed by numerous people, DNR officials admitted that there are cougars in Wisconsin, something that a lot of people have known or suspected for some time.

Former Wisconsin State Senator Dave Zien
To Complete Million-Mile Ride
MILLION MILE LANDING PARTY
APRIL 4, 2009
The law firm of Hupy & Abraham, S.C. will host a landing party at noon on Sat., April 4 to welcome former Wisconsin State Senator Dave Zien back to Wisconsin as he becomes the first person to ride one million miles on the same Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The feat will earn him a world record from the Iron Butt Association, an international group that oversees and governs safe, long-distance motorcycle riding challenges.
Hupy and Abraham, S.C. is proud to be the sole sponsor of Dave’s record attempt of being the first person to log one million miles on a single motorcycle, his 1991 FXRT Harley-Davidson.
The celebration will take place at Hal’s Harley-Davidson and Buell, 1925 S. Moreland Road, New Berlin, Wisconsin. The program starts at noon, but plan on getting there a little early to get the best spot for those photo opportunities. If all goes as planned, Dave will ride into Hal’s parking lot as his odometer turns to all zeroes. Joining him will be John “Rogue” Herlihy, Sturgis Freedom Fighter Hall of Fame member and photo-journalist. Rogue is covering this event for several biker magazines and Bikernet.com internet news.
Also, Hupy and Abraham, S.C. lead investigator, Tony “Pan” Sanfelipo, founder ABATE of Wisconsin and also a Sturgis Freedom Fighter Hall of Fame member, will be riding in with Dave. They will all be returning from a ride to Florida and back to complete the mileage for Dave’s million mile record.
Wisconsin Patriot Guard Riders will escort the group into Hal’s dealership, and form a flag line for the bikes. Iron Butt Association president, Mike Kneebone will be on hand to commemorate this occasion and many local government officials and noted bikers will be in attendance. You don’t want to miss this piece of motorcycle history.
After the event, there will be a ride to the Harley-Davidson Museum. Participants can tour the museum at a discounted price or enjoy the fine food at the restaurant or café on the grounds. There will also be a surprise announcement at the landing party at Hal’s that you won’t want to miss.
The event will include remarks from the president of the Iron Butt Association and local elected officials, as well as a check presented from Hupy & Abraham, S.C. for a $5,000 donation to a veteran's organization of Zien's choice in honor of his work as a champion of veterans' rights and Marine combat veteran.
The landing party is free and open to the public.
